The Answer is not a Word or a Phrase,

It cannot be found in Worship or Praise,

The Answer is not in the things that you do,

To put it quite simply the Answer is YOU!

For years one of my favorite songs was ‘Jesus is the Answer’ and I sang it from the bottom of my heart. In many ways, He still has, for me, the answers to many of life’s questions but I no longer believe that He is The Answer for the World today… it is we who are that Answer.

In John Chapter 14:6, the Apostle supposedly overheard Jesus say these words to Thomas, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”

This however conflicts with what Thomas himself supposedly understood Jesus to say, for he records it more like this: “The Kingdom of God is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourself, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the son of the living Father. But if you will not know yourself, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty.”

I have lived in the Third World most of my life and have seen many people who have nothing at all… but this is not the poverty Jesus is speaking of. Poverty is the absence of Spirit, the absence of willingness to get involved, the absence of concern for others, and the absence of Love for God’s Creation. Poverty is not being able to let go of worldly possessions, of holding on to past injustices, and saying “I would like to help you, but… “.

Why do we have war? Why is there injustice? Why is there starvation? Why are there abortions? Why are there misunderstandings? Why is there loneliness?

There is but one answer to all of these questions… get your head out of the sand people, because the Answer is YOU!
